Fabric Postcards for ALS research

Fabric postcards for the Hopes and Dreams for a Cure art and quilt exhibit are starting to come in! In our last blog we shared exciting news that a Virginia Beach, Virginia art gallery will feature the Hopes and Dreams quilts and fabric postcards sent in from all over the United States to benefit those living with ALS and raise funds for research. We are hoping to have a wonderful selection of fabric postcards to sell at the exhibit. 100% of sales from quilts and fabric postcards, and a portion of art and jewelry sales will go toward ALS research.

Today we received our first shipment of 28 fabric postcards from the very generous Carol Connelly in Royersford, Pa.

Along with her postcards, she sent in a touching note saying this was something she wanted to do even though she had never made one. Her good friend’s husband passed away from ALS and she wished us great success in raising money with this event.

We certainly would never guess this was the first time Carol had ever made a fabric postcard! With her variety of styles ranging from fabric choices, appliqué and paper piecing, Carol did a fantastic job.

We have been getting numerous phone calls and emails from you asking where to send in these postcards and when they need to be mailed- that we have decided to extend the deadline!

As a treat for your participation:

***For every small quilted item and/or fabric postcard received, you will be entered into a drawing to win one full box of assorted Quilters Dream Batting!

***Quilt Shops & Quilt Guilds that want to participate also have an opportunity to win. The Quilt Shop/Quilt Guild that contributes the most small quilted items and/or fabric postcards by Friday May 3rd, will win a free roll of batting!

Check out our previous blog on how to make fabric postcards and more detailed information on this event.

Please mail all projects and blank postcards by Friday May 3rd 2013 to:

Happy Quilting!

  2. The quilt show was fun and we raised upwards of $8,000 (waiting on Gallery for exact figure). The fabric postcards were a hit - many visitors from out of state selected postcards for a $10 donation to Hopes & Dreams ALS Research. We are getting a box of batting together today for (drum roll please....) Carol Connelly of Royersford, PA who sent in 28 postcards! Thanks to everyone and keep your eyes on this blog. We will be announcing another fun Hopes & Dreams challenge/contest in the month of June!
